General information on Willemstad
Willemstad is the capital of Curaçao. De Dutch influence can be found in the stile and the colors of the buildings and architecture. Most common areas in the center of Willemstad are ‘Otrobanda’ and ‘Punda’. You can walk from ‘Punda’ to ‘Otrabanda’ over the famous ‘Pontjesbrug’,thee ‘Queen Emmabrug’. Downtown there are a lot of highlights as ‘Fort Amsterdam’ with its Dutch colonial architecture and the ‘Curaçao Maritime Museum’, where you will get a lot of information on the history of the island. At the ‘Curaçao Seaquarium’ you will find sharks, dolphins and other sea animals. In the direction of ‘Westpunt’ beautiful white beaches can be found.
